GlossyBox - August 2012
This is my first Glossy Box and I was so excited to get it. I love the packaging and the quality of the products that are included. Two are full-sized and three are deluxe sample/gift size.
The 3 Hair/Skin Care samples I will review after I've been able to test them longer.
Ellis Faas - Shade L302
This chocolate brown shade is not one I would have picked for myself, but after using it sparingly on my lips, it really is a very pretty shade. I like receiving products and trying them even if they are not my normal choices. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised.
Illamasqua - Taint
This creamy chocolate brown shade is something I would have chose because I love brown polishes. The application was a little tricky because the thickness of the polish, but manageable. The outer cap comes off to make applying easier and the brush was flexible and easy to use. I used 2 coats with a top coat of Seche Vite.

Julep - Create Your Color Contest
How wonderful would it be to create your own Julep Nail Polish color and be able to name it too? I would love this and I thought you would also! What inspires you when it comes to color? Nature & Holidays usually inspires me. I love the colors of fall, my favorite thing to do is to visit the North Carolina Mountains in mid October when the leaves changing colors are at their peak. When pressed about my favorite color, I always choose green, even though I have so many favorites. That pretty green from Spring and Summer soon turns into those beautiful Fall colors that I love just as much.
What's your favorite color? What's your inspiration for that color?
Click on the link above or the picture below and follow the directions to enter.

Future Derm - Time Release Retinol 0.5
I have been using Future Derm's Time Release Retinol 0.5 for about 3 weeks now and what a difference it makes! The first things I noticed was my makeup base went on smoother and my skin felt softer. Next, I noticed that the few little acne breakouts I do get were happening less and even though I really don't have sun spots yet, I did see my skin tone even out more, so when I didn't have makeup on, I felt more comfortable. I have very few fine lines and wrinkles and I hope this product helps reduce those and prevent new ones. My skin also feels firmer.
As I've mentioned before, I have pale, sensitive but oily skin. I think because of the micro-encapsulated time-released retinol, I have been able to escape the over drying and major peeling that happens with a lot of retinol products. I'll keep you updated and let you know how it works with longer term continued use. It works well with other brands of skin care products, just make sure you aren't using more than one product that has retinol in it.
You can purchase FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 on their site for a retail price of $39.95 for 1oz. If you have any questions, feel free to contact their Future Derm's Customer Service. Have you used any this or any other retinol products, I'd love to hear about your experience.

Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge - Gimme That Bling - Week Two 09/09/2012
With this Nail Art Challenge, It suggested this week that "Diamonds are a girls best friend, so put some sparkle on those nails". I want to use an elegant yet blingy polish, so I chose Etude House WHO12, which is a black holographic polish. I used 2 coats of polish with one coat of Seche Vite. Then using small dots of SV, I applied It's So Easy rhinestones, 1 large in the middle of the nail with a smaller one on each side.

Essie - no place like chrome
I received Essie no place like chome from the Mirror Metallics Collection as one of my Klout Perks. It is descbribed as a richly oxidized nickel. I usually only show you the good or at least my best. But tonight I'm going to show you the good and the bad. I'm going to start with the bad.
I haven't had my nail polish to bubble in a long time. I usually have no problems with using Seche Vite, but combined with Essie's Mirror Metallics, they did not play well together as you can see in the pic below.
1 coat Seche Clear, 2 coats Essie no place like chrome, 1 coat Seche Vite.
I immediately took the manicure off and tried again. I wanted to make sure what the problem was... the polish or the weather or some other influence. It wasn't, it was the combination of the polish and the Seche Vite. The metallic polish was harder to apply in several ways, it will pull and lift if you try to go back over it even while wet. Make sure you let the first coat dry thoroughly before applying a second coat if needed. This formula reminds me of how some holographic polishes apply. Now on to the good.
1 coat Seche Clear, 2 coats Essie no place like chrome, no top coat.
I love the colors from the Essie Mirror Metallics Collection and you can check them out at www.essie.com. Have you tried this collection yet? What did you think about it?
*This product was sent to me from Klout.com as a perk.

Maijan Argan Oil
One of my favorite products recently has been Argan Oil. It has so many uses, for hair, skin, face and cuticles. The Maijan Argan Oil is made with pure organic Argan Oil from Morocco. It is naturally infused with omega-6, antioxidants and vitamin E which provide the skin and hair with complete hydration and luxurious healing powers. The oils are instantly absorbed, leaving little residue.
I love this for my hair which I abuse daily with washing, blow drying and either a hot iron or curling iron, not to mention it's color treated. It helps keep it shiny and nourished with out feeling weighted down or oily. I use it on my face after I use a scrub masque but can be used more often. Best of all, with all the swatching of nail polish, it keeps my hands and cuticles in great shape.
The oil comes in both in a regular formula and fragrance free. It can be found at www.Maijan.com and exclusively online at www.StyleBell.com, it retails for $39.95, but is currently on sale for $25. Do you use Argan Oil? If so, what are your best uses for the product?

3 Lab Perfect BB SPF 40
Have you been looking for the perfect BB cream? I think I have found mine with 3 Lab Perfect BB SPF 40/PA+++ in Shade #02. Infused with 3LAB’s signature bio-engineered growth hormone and apple stem cell technology, PERFECT BB SPF 40 is a sheer tinted moisturizer designed to firm and lift the skin, regenerate new skin cells, brighten, moisturize, and protect. conveniently in three shades to match your skin tone.
Even though it's sheer, it gives your skin an even tone and it's light weight, non oily which is perfect for my skin. Make sure you use it on clean skin, apply liberally before sun exposure and reapply after swimming or strenuous work outs. With my pale, sun sensitive skin, I use this anytime I'm going to be out in the sun, even for 5 minutes.
You can read more about the benefits, ingredients and purchase from the 3 Lab website. It retails for $95 for a 1.5oz tube, and it comes with a great applicator. Do you use BB creams? Have you tried any 3 Lab products?

Barielle - Dazzling Diamonds Collection
Just as promised, a 2nd collection from Barielle this week! Everyone knows how hot glitter polishes are now and Barielle clearly delivers on theirs. I used 2 coats of all the glitters with a base of Seche Clear and top coat of Seche Vite. I love my Barielle nail treatments, but I save them for when I wear the mani's and not waste them swatching. I did not use any undies as I wanted to show you the polish alone, it can also be worn on top of a color or in a jelly sandwich.
L-R, Stardust, Pink Diamond, Cherry Blossom Sparkler, Ebony Rainbow & Purple Hearts
Stardust - A scattered holographic multi-glitter in a jelly base.
Pink Diamond - A pink glitter that can be built up to be opaque.
Cherry Blossom Sparkler - A red glitter that can be built up to be opaque.
Ebony Rainbow - A dark multi-glitter in a jelly base.
Purple Hearts - A jelly based multi-sized purple glitter.
As my collection of Barielle's keep growing, I haven't found one yet that I didn't want to keep! They are so all so unique. You can follow Barielle on their Facebook page where they are very interactive with their fans and offer frequent promo's and contests. The collections are $25 for a set of 5 which is a savings of $5 even with their ususal B1G1 50% off.
Are you a glitter girl? I know I am. My favorites from this collection is Stardust and Purple Hearts. Which is your favorite and how do you like to wear glitters?

DERMAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge
One of the first skin care products sent to me for review was DERMAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge. As most of you know, I am one of the older Beauty Bloggers. I'll be 48 years old this month and proud of it! I have been blessed with decent skin, although I have had my challenges with it though the years... pale, sensitive, oily and sun exposure daily without protection. And now with age I can see it changing fast. Thank goodness at the age of 13, my Mother kept me supplied with quality skin care and cosmetics and instilled in me the importance of using them regularly.
I love this product, I have been using it for months. With skin care, to accurately test it, you need to use it for longer periods of time before review. I won't recommend anything to my readers without doing so. Wrinkle Revenge made my skin smoother, more even toned and reduced those little wrinkles that have started creeping up on me. My skin even though being sensitive tolerated this product well. It's available on DERMAdoctor's site, retail price is $65 for 1 oz, a little goes a long way.
You will see more reviews from all sides of beauty in the future on Midnight Manicures with products for every age with the help of my 19 year old daughter, Jayme. Of course, I will still bring you all of the regular nail posts and hopefully more of them as we post more often. And yes, we will do Face Of The Day, Eye Of The Day, Lips Of The Day posts, Hair Care and maybe even some Fashion posts. I'm a little scared and hopefully no one will be cruel, I know you as my readers will be supportive of Jayme and I.
Have you tried any of the DERMAdoctor products? If so, which one?

Barielle - Some Like It Hot Collection
Have I told you lately how much I love Barielle? Not only do I love their polish, but I'm so impressed with their business as a whole. Great Customer Service, interaction with their fans on their Facebook such as contests and promotions. They sent me 2 collections to review recently and this is the first of the two.
L-R, Gotta Have Fate, Life Of The Party, Lily Of The Valley, Sunshine & Surf's Up
All of the swatches below are using 2 coats of polish, with one coat of Seche Clear as a base and one coat of Seche Vite top coat. I love the Barielle nail treatments, but I save them for when I'm going to wear a mani longer and not just swatching.
Gotta Have Fate - Opaque Creamy Coral
Life Of The Party - Beautiful Pink Opaque Cream
Lilly Of The Valley - Irish Green with Shimmer
Sunshine - Warm Yellow with Shimmer
Surf's Up - Deep Caribbean Blue
I love the collections that Barielle offers at a discounted price of $25. Even with their B1G1 1/2 off, that's another $5 off when you buy a collection. Stay turned, I will bring you the 2nd collection later this week. Do you own any Barielle polishes? Which is your favorite? I'd have to say all 5!

Hi Everyone! It's Birthday Month here at Midnight Manicures! My one and only child turned 19 Sept 1st, she is my miracle baby. Swagger, one of our Havanese Dogs turns 1 year old on Sept 20th, and on Sept 23rd, I will turn 48! I know, I can't believe it either.

It is for US residents only, ages 18 and up and you can enter from the form below or from my Face Book page (click on the helicopter icon).
