Barielle's Summer 2011 Karma Collection - Part 2

Today I'm bringing you the last 3 of the new Summer 2011 Karma Collection from Barielle. I enjoyed swatching all of the colors, but my personal favorite is the Welcome OHM and I'm going to show you two ways to wear it in this post.

Buddha-ful - Beige with soft baby pink/blue/light grey foil (This is what I consider a flakie)
Welcome OHM - Warm Cream Plum
Soul-er Powered- Warm Yellow Gold with Silver and Gold Shimmer

First I'll show you Budda-ful alone (2 coats) and then layered (1 coat) over Welcome OHM, coverage was good and even. Hard to get a good picture with this camera, I'm looking for a new one and I also now have a portable light studio that I've still got to set up.

Welcome OHM 2 coats, great application.

Soul-er Powered, (2 coats) I could have used 3 coats or a white or basecoat underneath to keep my nail line from showing, but I really didn't mind it, and was harder to see in person.

I hope you enjoyed the whole Karma Collection, I know I did. What is your favorite color from the collection? I'm looking forward to seeing the fall/winter collection when it comes out.

Press Release - Deborah Lippmann - Get This Party Started - Holiday 2011 Collection

Just in time for the holiday season,
Deborah Lippmann Gets the Party started

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: a party in a bottle (glitter)
FORGET YOU: party all night (glitter)
CANDY SHOP: bubblegum pink (glitter)

Nothing says ‘Party’ like the magnetic sparkle of glitter. So for the biggest party season of the year, I’ve created shades that truly dazzle. Get This Party Started, a set of three glitters, was inspired by the overwhelming demand for my best selling Happy  Birthday, a glittery party in a bottle. The set includes Happy Birthday, along with two new variations of the sparkling shade: Forget You and Candy Shop. They’re both packed with the same unique hexagon-shaped glitter that gives Happy Birthday its magnificent glint, only Forget You has a sheer black base and Candy Shop a bubblegum pink.

I love how festive all three look and feel, whether wrapped a round a champagne glass or peeping out of a glamorous pump. But what I truly love the most: how a few coats of any shade instantly transform you into the life of the party.

XOXO,
Deborah

WHERE TO FIND IT: Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and online at www.deborahlippmann.com.  Retail $42 set.

Press Release - Deborah Lippmann - Fall 2011 Shades

WARM UP WITH DEBORAH LIPPMANN’S
FALL 2011 SHADES

SHADE DESCRIPTIONS
Billionaire: moody hunter green (creme)
Brick House: shimmering rust (shimmer)
Single Ladies: flirtatious red (creme)
Stormy Weather: an edgy granite (crème) is a collaboration with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.

I have worked directly with some of the world’s top fashion designers on everything from ad campaigns to fashion shows. When I set out to select nail looks for the fall 2011 collections, I noticed a common theme among all of my collaborators: warmth. The clothes featured vivid, lush earth tones—think lush greens, rich reds and intense golds.
I wanted to capture a similar heat and earthiness in the accompanying polishes, but with an added punch. BILLIONAIRE, a moody hunter green, BRICK HOUSE, a shimmering rust, and SINGLE LADIES, a flirtatious red, all have warm undertones, which give them a beautiful intensity, but also have a jewel-like quality so they really make nails pop.

SHOW WORTHY
Deborah Lippmann’s new shade, STORMY WEATHER, is a collaboration with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.
Usually Narciso requests a nude nail to complement his minimalist designs, but for fall 2011 around he wanted something bolder—a color with strength and edge to offset both his collection and the softness of the hair and makeup. For the perfect custom finish, I mixed (and mixed) a new shade by hand in just 24 hours. The final product: an edgy granite that emanated power and intensity. The models who walked the show (and who rarely, if ever, comment on the nail color) gushed over the shade. And so STORMY WEATHER was born an edgy granite (crème) for a strong fall statement.

XOXO,
Deborah

WHERE TO FIND IT: Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and online at www.deborahlippmann.com .  Retail Price:  $16 each.

Nail Art - Panda Mani - Guest Blogger Liz

Today we have a Nail Art by Liz of Nothing but Nails.  This is so cute and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Okay so I wanted to do a mani that the hubby would like so I did pandas. Yes pandas. He LOVES them!!! And as you can tell the blog I did the other day was cherry blossoms because he loves the who Asian couture and he puts up with my nail polish so I had to do something for him.

For this mani I chose to use a base color (Sally Hansen Sweet Pea) , you dont have to if you dont want to.

If you go down to the bottom theres a how to.

So here are the pictures.....

 This is my left hand

And my right. As you can tell the polish was getting a little stringy.

So here is the how to......

First apply a base coat

Then if you want a base color you can use one. If you do apply 2 coats and let it dry
(I used Sally Hansen Sweet Pea)

Take a white plish and make 1/2 circles on each nail. I used L.A. Colors Art Deco to make an outline then I took WnW French White to fill them in.

Then using a dotting tool (I used the end of an eye brow brush) Make 2 circles for the ears, then 2 smaller circles for the eyes and a small circle for the nose.

Then after you do all 10 pandas take your white polish and your dotting tool or what ever you used and make the whites of there eyes.

Now if you mess that up (making the white take over the whole black part) dont worry you can fix that. Just take the black and make a dot over it and wait for it to dry and do the white again. I messed up a few times but you cant tell.

Then top it off with a top coat and your good to go.

Thanks again Liz!  How did you all like this Panda mani?  You can visit Liz on her blog at www.nothingbutnails.blogspot.com.

Nail Art - Sponging - Guest Blogger Katherine from Manicure Addict

I wanted to share with you guys one of my favorite Nail Art Techniques: Sponging! I've done this a few times with various different colors and each time I do it, I always fall in love with my end results. The best part about it is it's easy and a lot of fun! I hope you guys enjoy this little step by step tutorial and get busy creating your own fun summer sponging looks!
-Katherine

Floral Nail Art with Sponging
Over my yellow base I sponged on a slightly darker sparkly yellow on the four corners of the nails

(Base: SH's Complete salon Yellow Kitty, Sparkly yellow: China Glaze's LightHouse)
Over the yellow I sponged an Orange color over it but I made sure I didn't sponge over all of the sparkly yellow since I still wanted it to be visible. This will leave a nice center for your flower.

When you Sponge you will get it over your fingers so don't worry it's part of the fun and when you're all finished it's not to hard to clean but do wait till the end to clean up since if your polish is still wet you can end up cleaning off more than you wanted to.

(Orange: Wet n Wild's 9.0.2.1.Orange)
In the center I used a nail art brush and just outlined my flowers. Not sure why I ended up doing that, somehow when I draw flowers each one always ends ups different : ). You can also stamp your design here if you prefer.

(Flower outline: Borghese's Anemone)
Here I filled in the flowers and used a dotter to put a yellow center on each flower

(Flower: Nicole by OPI's you're an angel , yellow Center: SH Insta Dri Lightening)
Last step: I painted on a little green vine and topped it all off with a Top Coat

(vine: Orly's It's not rocket Science)
I'm not a huge fan of yellows and orange colors, especially on my nails but this one really hit the spot and it's perfect for summer. The pictures do not do this manicure justice, it is really so much nicer in person! Happy Painting Ladies!!

This is beautiful Katherine!  Thank you so much for sharing your sponging techniques with us!  You can see more of Katherine's nail art on her website at ManicureAddict.com, follow her on twitter @ManicureAddict and on FaceBook at Manicure Addict.

More Nail Art from Tricia - Sunset and Seaside

I hope everyone enjoyed Sunday's nail art by Tricia from Tricia's Nail Artistry.  Today she is back for a 2nd installment of freehanded nail art.  And whats more appropriate for summer?  Beach themed art!  She is doing some great designs that I think I will be trying soon.  She gives us great instructions, material lists and pictures.  First we start with the sunset.

Sunset :
1)base: bright blue, yellow, orange. No need for blending/ layering, just paint them on next to each other.
2) Layer blue glitter over the bright blue, it adds some sparkle to give the illusion of water. Add some island shape in black.
3) Add black palm trees to the island shapes and finish with top coat.

Sea side:
1) Base: light brown, dark blue, and light blue. No blending colors just paint them next to each color.
2)Layer blue glitter over dark blue color for water. Paint a tiny crab and star fish (any other sea side item can be painted such as shells, jelly fish etc) I choose a crap and star fish because I did not have too much space to add more items.
3) Add clouds and birds on the light blue area to finish the sky and apply crushed shells/sand over the light brown area to add texture. Finish with top coat

Thanks Tricia for sharing your beautiful nail art with us.  You can follow Tricia on Facebook by going to Tricia's Nail Artistry.  So do you think you will be trying either one of these?  Stay tuned until next Tuesday when she will bring you her first attempt at 3D Sculpting!

Nail Art - Animal Prints - Guest Blogger Tricia

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading your comments, yes I do read them all and I listen too!  Many of you have been asking for more nail art.  So over the next few weeks, I've going to have many Guest Bloggers who will show all of you some beautiful nail art and how to do it.  I am just learning how myself, so I thought I'd ask people with more experience until I learn more.

My first Guest Blogger is Tricia from Tricia's Nail Artistry, you can follow her on facebook.  She will be Guest Blogging at least 2 more times and hopefully more :)  Her first blog is Animal Prints, they are beautiful!  Here's a list of what she used, steps to reproduce the art and pictures to follow(click to enlarge).

Leopard print:
1) paint nail with gold
2) using the sponging technique, add random brown/copper colored spots
3) add black leopard spots and finish with top coat
Tiger print:
1)Paint nail with bronze/copper
2) Sponge on some gray color at the sides of the nail
3)add black strips and finish with topcoat

For the leopard and tiger designs,I used the sponged effect to create a bit of texture.

Zebra print:
1) paint nail white
2) add black strips and finish with top coat

Giraffe print:
1) paint nail in a shade of pale yellow
2) add brown spots randomly, and finish with top coat

Hope you like them

Stay tuned for more nail art from Tricia and others!  Let me know what you think about it and what other nail art you would like to see!

Barielle Jess' Champagne Toast

Last night I wanted to use some of my untrieds from a recently Barielle Promotion.  For my review I chose Jess' Champagne Toast.  I used Seche Base and 2 coats of color, it went on a little thick but I could adjust to it easily, it was opaque in coverage.  Barielle describes her as a Metallic Violet with Rose Gold Glitter.  I finished off with a top coat of Seche Vite.  Looking forward to getting some of the Barielle Nail Care items soon so I can try them out too.  The first 4 pictures are with normal room light and the last 3 are with flash.

You can order Barielle polishes and other products at Barielle.com and also join them on Facebook at Barielle.  Also, remember to enter my "500 Followers Giveaway", there are 2 of the new Karma Collection Polishes in the prizes.  What do you think of Jess's Champagne toast?  It's actually prettier on my fingers than I could capture in the pictures.  Are there any other Barielle color's that you would like to see me review soon?

Wet n Wild - Gray's Anatomy

I know I'm a little late in the game with this one.  But I just recently acquired it after I saw there were dupes out there of it or vice versa and I wanted to try it myself.  Some of the dupes are Deborah Lippmann's Wicked Games and Zoya's Adina.  I guess it depends on your budget $2, $8 and $16, I own all 3 and love them all.

Tonight's polish is Wet n Wilds Gray's Anatomy.  This polish, depending on how many coats you use is a sheer duochrome that shines purple/silver/green.  I used 3 coats which is fairly opaque with this many coats.  It is a Quick Dry formula and I used Seche Base and Seche Vite as my top coat, I wanted to get a few days wear out of it.  I actually did this mani last night and tonight it's still perfect, no chips or wear.

You can find Wet n Wild products at your local drug stores and discount chain stores for $1.99-2.49 (I use coupons too, yes I'm a Crazy Coupon Lady).  They also have a facebook, click here to check it out:  Wet n Wild and on Twitter Wet n Wild.

Some of my projects in progress are, getting a new camera...this one stinks and working on a light box to get better photos, but until then, please bear with me.

What are your thoughts?  Do you know of anymore dupes out there?
