Halloween Skittle Manicure - OPI Mini Spookettes Collection & Water Decals

Tonight's manicure is a skittle of OPI's Mini Spookettes Collection and the water decals that came with them.  I never know which way to put the decals/sticker, for pictures I should have turned them the other way, but I'm the one who looks at my hands the most.  My thumb and ring finger are polished in He's My Boo, pointer and pinky are polished in I Only Date WereWolves, middle finger is polished in Mummy Knows Best and topped with the Glow In The Dark color Zom-Body To Love.  The water decals went on really easy after I figured out what they were...I first thought they were stickers.  Even with the mini's the application was smooth and even, I did use 3 coats with the white and orange, 2 with the black.  I topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite.  You can click on the pictures to enlarge.

Julep's Zoe - A beautiful Fall Color

Tonight's manicure was inspired by another beautiful what I consider a fall color, although it would look great any time of the year.  This is Julep's Zoe from their Fall Collection.  Julep calls this a zesty, smoky burnt umber.  This formula was opaque in two coats.  I started with one coat of Seche Clear as my base, 2 coats of color that went on even and very smooth.  I topped it with a final coat of Seche Vite.  I want to try Julep's base and top coats next.   I have a date with my Husband (of almost 29 years) tonight and this color will go perfect with my new shirt that I bought.

I received this polish as part of the Julep Maven Referral Program.  Through their monthly program and the referral program, I now own 20 of their beautiful polishes, cuticle oil, nail treatment, glass nail file, hand scrub, hand cream, and age defying hand brightner.  The new Holiday Collection is beautiful and I can't wait to show it to you.  You can click the pictures to enlarge.

The Maven program offers a unique way to receive Julep polishes and other products through a monthly subscription.  It is $19.99 and you can receive $15 off your first month by using the code FB.  So for $4.99 you can try out over $60 worth of their products, you can cancel at anytime, do a shelf pull (change colors for that month), put your subscription on hold for a month or even send it to a friend as a nice Birthday, Holiday or Thanks for Being My Friend present.  You can even send them a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription for a gift.  For every person that you refer to Julep and they use your link, you will receive a $15 gift code for their products.  To join, just click on one of the links in this post or on the Julep Maven picture on the right side of my blog.

Professional quality "3-Free" nail polish formulation.  $1 of every Julep Nail Color sold will be donated to organizations that support women through their Powered by Girlfriends program. You can learn more about that on their webpage at Julep.com.

Barielle's Snow Day

Tonight, with my Friends in the NorthEast facing their first Winter Storm, I am bringing you Barielle's Snow Day.  Barielle describes this color as a Ice Blue Metallic with Silver undertones.  I used 2 coats of polish and no top coat, this polish shines on it's own.  The application was great, it went on smooth, the wear was consistent with other Barielle polishes.

Barielle has a great line of nail/hand, foot and skin care.  They are always running a special on one of their products and always has Buy 1 get 1 50% off of their nail shades.  You can follow them on Facebook at Barielle and order on their website at Barielle.com..  Their polish retails at $8 each.  What do you think about this color?  What is your favorite Barielle shade?

Joe Fresh Pumpkin - A Halloween Inspired Manicure

Recently a friend from Canada sent me 7 of the Joe Fresh polishes, my first of this brand.  This is my 4th that I've swatched and I wanted to go ahead and show it to you before Halloween because of the color and polish name.  This is simply Pumpkin, a medium burnt orange color, perfect for Fall.  I applied 2 coats of polish which goes on very smooth, almost too smooth, I can see myself reflected in some of the pictures.  I did use a top coat of Seche Vite.  I'm still out of practice from taking 6 weeks off for the puppies (and yes I'm promising pictures soon) but also didn't notice how shaky I was until I went to take pictures.

I don't think this color of polish is the best with my skin tone, but I would still wear it (I love the actual color).  This is probably my least favorite with my skin tone of the colors I received.  The application and wear of the Joe Polishes that I've tried so far are consistent.  The bottles are .2oz and the brushes are a little small which is ok with my small hands and nails.  They have worn 3-4 days for me without chips or wear, even with as hard as I am on my hands and nails right now.

Have you tried this brand yet?  What do you think of it?

Halloween Manicure with Moon Glitter Pumpkin Polish

Tonight is another Halloween inspired manicure.  I used Revlon's Black With Envy which has been called a dupe for Chanels Black Pearl.  I looked up other bloggers swatches and they are similar but not exact dupes.  The Black With Envy was a little sheer so I used 3 coats, it wasn't hard to apply, but I was attending to puppies and typing while polishing so I had a few mistakes, but knew I was going to cover it up anyway.

Next I applied a coat of the Pumpkin Polishes Moon Glitter, you really do not get a large piece of glitter each time you polish a nail, so I had to dig some out of the bottle and apply them as random as I could.  This polish also had some small silver and black glitters too.  It to me wasn't noticeable enough so I applied a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust to the top.  I've always said, when all else fails, apply Fairy Dust.

I topped the final mani off with 2 coats of Seche Vite and it ended up being so thick, it was like having on fake nails.  Even with the Seche Vite, this many layers takes a while to dry.  I should have applied the fast drying top coat between layers.  Later I put on gloves to do some cleaning and when I removed them I could tell something was wrong, I took a finger and was able to push the whole manicure off my finger leaving just a little of the Black With Envy behind.  I think it would have been ok if I hadn't wore the gloves and let it dry overnight.

Polishes used left to right:  China Glaze Fairy Dust, Pumpkin Polish
Moon Glitter and Revlon Black with Envy.

I would have enjoyed being able to wear this manicure longer, the rainbow colors of the moons and Fairy Dust really showed up more in person.  Next time when attempting a manicure with this many layers, I will try using a fast dry top coat between layers and do it when I know I won't have anything else to do later.  What do you think about this?  Any comments or suggestions?

Halloween French Tip Manicure with Orange and Black Polishes

Tonight's manicure is a French Tip manicure using OPI's Y'all Come Back Ya Hear, Wet N Wilds Halloween Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin and Black Magic.  I used 2 coats of the Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin layered over 2 coats of OPI's Y'all Come Back Ya Hear.  Both being Jelly Based, I could still see my nail tips (VNL = Visible Nail Line), so that's when I came up with doing the tips with the Fantasy Makers Black Magic, it's hard to see the glitter in the black, but it's there.  I used regular tape to do the tips.  I topped everything with 2 coats of Seche Vite.

I am really loving all the Holiday themed nail polish that I am finding and mixing it up with my regular polishes. What do you think about this mani, do you have any color combinations or jelly mani's you would like to see?  Please leave me a comment below, they are always read and I try to answer back.

Guest Blog - Pedicure with Tricia using Color Club's Factory Girl

I just finished up my blue pedi, so I decided to share it. I dont normally wear blue since it does not go to well with my tan skin tone, however I still did it blue so it would compliment my blue foot jewelry I would be wearing over the weekend. I tried three different colors before settling for the one I chose.  First I tried Color club's Total Mystery (Alter Ego Collection) It is the exact color of the beads on my barefoot sandal, but the formula was a bit problematic, it seems to be very thin and I got a lot of streaks, even after the third coat, four coats might have worked, but I did not bother with it since it was not looking right.
Second color I tried was (Justin Bieber collection) Prize Possession Purple, that is a beautiful purple, but did not go well with the color of my jewelry.
The third color was (Justin Bieber collection) Me + Blue, which is a nice medium blue loaded with glitter, but did not go well with my skin tone.
So I settled for Color Club's Factory Girl.

Things I used:

China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
Color Club Factory Girl
Art club Silver Striper
8 (1.5mm) rhinestones
8 (2.3mm) rhinestones
Art Club's Sealer

1) Apply base coat.
2) Paint nails in Factory Girl.

3) Using the striper, add 3 diagonal lines on each of the big toes.

4) Then add 3 more diagonal lines to cross the first 3 lines.
5) On each of the remaining 8 nails, add one 1.5mm rhinestones to the half moon area of the nail.

6) Add 4 larger rhinestones in the area between the silver lines on each big toe.

7) Finish up with sealer.

*Tip: for maximum rhinestone adhesion, a tiny drop of glue can be used. By using glue, however, removal will be a bit tougher, an acetone soak may be needed but do remember to saturate surrounding skin with cuticle oil prior to acetone use.

Color Club/Art Club polishes can be bought at transdesign.com.
China Glaze Base Coat is commonly found at any Sally Beauty Supply.
Rhinestones can be bought at alcosmetics.com.

How to Match Your Lipstick With Your Nails: Two-Toned Colors
by Ambi Carter of BlushingAmbers.com

1. Use two different shades of lipsticks and nail polish in the same color family.
2. For lips, place the darker shade on the outside and the lighter in the center. Add a little gloss over the lighter shade to pump up the volume.
3. For nails, polish one side of your nails with the lighter color 1/4 the way of the nail. Apply 2 coats and let it dry.
4. Fill in the unpainted part of the nail with the darker color. Apply 2 coats. (Using tape can help make a straight line if the polish is completely dry)
5. Once the polish is dry add a top coat of clear for a finished look.

NAILS:
Urban Outfitters: Bandeau and Binge (2 coats w/ clear polish on top)

MAKEUP:
Outer Perimeter of Lips, MUFE #15 Pearly Violet and MAC Bloggers Obsession Lipglass All My Purple Life

Halloween Manicure with Island Girl Color Changing Polish and Stickers

Tonight I am bringing you my first Halloween manicure.  Another blogger sent me a box full of Island Girl polishes while she was vacationing in Hawaii.  I will bring you more manicures as I get to try them, I really have enjoyed the ones I've used so far.  I had been waiting months to try out a set of stickers I bought off ebay, they were girly skulls, crossbones and crowns.  After I tried this Med Pink to Dk Pink Color Changing polish I knew it was the perfect polish for my stickers.

Base Coat, 2 coats of Polish and a coat of Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat.

The polish actually went on smooth and was totally opaque in 2 coats.  Please
forgive my messiness, I'm a little out of practice and need a new brush for cleanup.

So here are the stickers I have been waiting to use, too cute huh?  Sorry
for the flipped pictures but I wanted you too see how they looked.

I had used a coat of Seche Vite over the stickers too.

Now to show you the color change, the first picture is when I had dipped my
hand in cool water(darker), the 2nd one below I had used warm water(lighter).  You can
see a difference throughout the day without doing that and sometimes your nails can be different
colors or two colors on one nail at times.

What do you think of this Halloween Manicure, not the usual colors right?  Have you used any Island Girl Polishes?  You can only get them in Hawaii or Las Vegas at the ABC Stores or they do have some available on their online store.  Stay turned to see what Halloween mani I do next.  I'm really not good at nail art, but I'm working on it.  All of Tricia's guests posts with instructions are giving me lots of ideas.  Anything you want to see me do?  Just leave a comment below!
