Barielle's Polished Princess

Tonight I am bringing you another one of my favorite polishes from Barielle.  This is Polished Princess...I know the name screams pink or purple, but it's actually green!  Barielle describes this polish as a safari green with a copper shimmer.  All I know is...I love it :)  I used a base coat, 2 coats of color and a top coat and it went on very smooth.

You can find Barielle polishes at www.Barielle.com  and follow them on Facebook at Barielle where they are having a 50% off special (good through Sept 30, 2011) and another 15% off when you sign up for their newsletter.  I can't think of a better time to try them!  Do you have a favorite Barielle polish?

China Glaze - Metro Collection Fall 2011 - Glitters

I wanted to start off showing you some of the China Glaze Metro Collection.  The first 3 will be the Glitters.

The first is CG In The City, it is a Multi-color Glitter in a Clear Base, I used 3 coats for coverage.  It is beautiful!  Went on very smooth and was not a real bumpy glitter.

The next Glitter from the Metro Collection is Sky Scraper.  It is a Silver and Blue Glitter in a Jelly Base.  I again used 3 coats.  Application was great.

The last Glitter from The China Glaze Metro Collection is Midtown Magic.  It is a dark blackened burgandy with gold flakes in it.  This also went on very smooth and I used 3 coats.

I do have the rest of the Metro Collection, I will be bringing them to you a few at a time.  Hope you enjoyed seeing them as much as I did trying them out!  Let me know what you think!

Guest Post - KayJay from Refined and Polished

Many thanks to Jeanie for letting me share my nails with all of you! I'm KayJay from Refined and Polished and I have for you two polishes that look amazing layered together. I received these in an awesome swap with Erika over at Polish Fixation. Up first is Maybelline Cool Couture. This limited edition polish is a slate gray that's packed with blue and green shimmer. I've been looking for Cool Couture for awhile, so I was excited to get it in a swap. The formula was good, but the brush was a little wonky. Luckily, the polish self-leveled very nicely. Two coats were needed for full opacity.

Everything about Cool Couture was gorgeous!!! I almost didn't want to layer it, but I figured I should amp things up a bit for the guest post. KleanColor Chunky Holo Bluebell is my first polish from this brand. Bluebell is a multichrome glitter that flashes orange, green, gold, and blue and is suspended in a light blue base. No complaints with this polish other than the smell...I felt like I was in a nail salon. As I don't have any other KleanColors to compare it to, I'm not sure if this is the norm or just my bottle. Luckily, the awesomeness of the polish out weighs the bad smell. This is one coat over Maybelline Cool Couture.

I am in love! Typically, I don't go for glitter top coats but this one just does something for me. It looks gorgeous in all lights and I have a feeling I'll be using Bluebell often. Thanks Jeanie for letting me guest post and I hope all's going well with the puppies!

What are your thoughts on glitter top coats?

Thanks so much KayJay, I love your nails!  Great post as always, please show KayJay some love by leaving her a comment below or visiting her blog!

Birthday Giveaway Winner of Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday Polish Is:

I took and numbered the entries first from my blog, then facebook, then twitter.  There were a total of 162 entries and used random.org to pick one.  It picked entry number 2.

So I don't think it would be fair if I didn't tell you about my happiest Birthday, it was my 29th.  My daughter that we worked so hard for and waited on for 10 years made an appearance 22 days before my Birthday on September 1st, 1993...which brings me to my 2nd happiest Birthday...my 47th...she turned 18 years old this year!  Whew what a hard but rewarding experience.  I'm sure she will bring me many more!

Have you waited long enough???  :)  So excited....here we go, cross your fingers!

The Winner of Deborah Lippmann's
Happy Birthday Polish is:

Red said...

My GFC is Red Stewart, and you know how much I love you and your blog - what a great giveaway!!!

My most memorable birthday would have to be when I was a kid... maybe 8 years old. My Dad took me to his place of work (he was in the air force at the time). I remember the doll I had just been given as a present - it was a Yes/No Doll... with strategically placed buttons, you could make her nod or shake her head. Loved that doll, but love going with my Dad to his work way more!!! Whenever officers saluted as we walked by, I would salute back too!

My birthday is November 5. :o)

Thanks again, Jeanie!! <3

Please send me your mailing address to jeanie@midnightmanicures.com.  If 48 hours pass and I do not hear anything then I will pick a new winner!

Congrats and thank you from the bottom of my heart for following my blog, facebook and/or twitter!  I loved reading all the stories of your favorite Birthday.

Guest Post - Nail Art Tutorial with Shannon from The Kracked Kat

Shannon from The Kracked Kat here to share a short tutorial with you.  I wanted to do something interesting for you all.  So where did I turn?  My craft supply cabinet of course.  In there I found lots of super fine craft glitter, embossing powders and my Pearl Ex pigments.  Pearl Ex or Perfect Pearls pigment powders can be mixed into any media and applied to any surface so why shouldn't they be applied to finger nails?
Here are the supplies you will need:
  • Pearl Ex pigment powder (can be found in rubber stamping section of Michael's)
  • base coat/polish (I used Pure Ice Black Rage)
  • a soft powder brush (I used the Perfect Pearls brushes but a eyeshadow or blush brush would work too)
  • paint brush
  • glue (I used Martha Stewart transfer adhesive. This glue is specially designed to be used with the Martha Stewart brank foils.  I can't wait to try the MS foils on my nails next!)
  • pallet (I used a plastic lid to a butter container)
  • top coat
First apply a base coat of polish to your nails and let it cure.  Once your base coat is dry you will want to pour a very small amount of the glue to the pallet.  A little goes a long way with this project. Using your paint brush apply a very thin coat of glue to your nails.  Since the glue is water based you do not have to worry about ruining your brush.  It will wash right out when you are finished.  Allow the glue to dry until it is tacky.

Now for the messy part.  Carefully dip your soft powder brush into the powder to pick it up.  Apply powder to the nails in a pouncing motion until the entire nail is covered then dust extra powderoff nail.

Apply a top coat to your nails and voila!

The pigment powder I used was actually pink in the jar but turned blue when applied to the nail.  If you applied the same powder to a white basecoat it would show up as pink.  You could get fancier and apply the glue with a detail brush to make stripes and designs if you want.  Imagine this under a coat of crackle polish!  And for you who dabble in frankening you could mix this powder in for a holographic glow.
I hope you enjoyed this project and much as I did.

Shannon this is great and thank you for taking so much time to share this with my readers!  Please let Shannon know what you think about her Nail Art Mani and visit her on her blog at The Kracked Kat.

Guest Post - Glow In The Dark Polish with Harri of TrailerHood Chic

Hey y'all!  My name is Harri you can find my blog over at TrailerHood Chic.  Jeanie is popping my guest post cherry so to speak.  I am a make-up and polish addict.  I like to express myself with my nails and wear pretty colors, but that's about as girly as I get.

I recently showed the Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers in Purple Potion (http://trailerhoodchic.blogspot.com/2011/09/wet-n-wild-fantasy-makers-purple-potion.html) on my blog and just couldn't leave it alone.  I decided to layer some other polishes over it to see what it looked like.

So, below I decided to use 2 layers of Pure Ice Heart Breaker over top of Purple Potion.  Heart Breaker is an extremely sheer polish with blue/green shimmer.  It's better as a layering polish and wanted something that didn't hide the purple.  I think it's so pretty.  Green & Purple, who could resist?

Then, just because I can't leave well enough alone, I threw a coat of WnW Fantasy Makers Night Glow (Glow In The Dark) on top.

I couldn't get it to glow enough for a pic after applying a top coat & probably should've put another layer over top to help out.  I'll try it next time.

Feel free to come visit me over at TrailerHood Chic.  I have 2 current giveaway's. Thank you Jeanie for letting me ramble on your blog!

TOODLES Y'ALL!!!

Thanks Harri for bringing us your beautiful nails and Manicure!  This is our first GITD (Glow In The Dark) Mani.  Please let Harri know what you think about her post and visit her on her blog!

A Englands Holy Grail from the Mythical's Collection

Today I am bringing you a polish all the way from the UK!  I won this polish in a giveaway on A England's Facebook page.  The name of this polish is the Holy Grail from the Mythical's Collection.  It is a true gold color, it went on so smooth and was very opaque.  I used 2 coats in the pictures below.

I would recommending checking out their website at A England.  They offer free world wide shipping, they do not test on animals.  The creator of this polish Adina is amazing, she sent a hand-written card with my polish.  Her website is magical :)  I can't stop reading it.  I'm going to order more and I they have a new collection coming out that I think you'll love too, but you'll have to check that out!

Guest Post - All the way from Australia - Sarah of Shatter Me Claire

Hi Everyone!  Our Guest Blog Post today comes all the way from Australia!  Sarah is from Shatter Me Clair.

G'day readers *waves*

I've flown over from my corner of the globe to show you a simple design that I've been wearing a lot lately and seems to attract a lot of attention [plus it's pretty and it'll showcase to you some Australian polish which you probably haven't seen before in your travels]

Introducing 2 polishes from the Face of Australia - Molten Metallics collection. On the left is "White Gold" and on the right is "Amethyst". As you would have guessed from the collection name they are metallics and gorgeous.

I have had zero problems with any of the polishes in this range and they all consistently perform with perfect coverage, no streaks and are super easy to use in nail art.

So I've paired these fantastic polishes with the BM205 stamping plate and voila. Fantastic metallic goodness. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post I've had a lot of comments when I've worn this which always brightens my day. For the record this swatch is 2 coats of Amethyst and I always love how the White Gold looks against it.

These polishes retail for $4.95 AUD but if there are any Aussies in the house - you might want to get onto looking for these sooner rather than later as they have been fast disappearing off the shelves since the range is Limited Edition.  For the international polish lovers out there you might have to try eBay or find yourself a swap buddy!

Thanks for letting me share a little bit of my world with you guys! Have a good one! ♥

Please show Sarah some love by leaving her some comments and visiting her on her blog at Shatter Me Claire.  Don't you just love this polish and her manicure???
