Happy New Year! 2012 Let's Celebrate! New Year's Mani

New Year's Mani with OPI's Baby It's Coal Outside and Servin Up Sparkle.

Just wanting to wish everyone Happy New Year and update you about my blog and what is going on in my life. Today, December 31st, 2011 is my 29th Wedding Anniversary, so I will be busy tomorrow....Yes, we got married on New Year's Eve, it's one of my favorite holidays.  The question I get asked the most is "How old are you?", when they hear I've been married this long.   LOL!   Let's just say, the Hubby and I got married very young!  He was 17 and I was 18, we knew each other for a year and it was Love At First Sight for those of you who believe in that.  If you knew me back then, you'd know that was something totally uncharacteristic for me to do, I was all about going to college to be an Attorney and not getting married until I was finished.  I feel blessed that we have made it 29 years and hope we make it 29 more at least!  If you know me now, you'd just think "That's something Jeanie would do"!  Wow, how things and people have changed.

I am going to try to be a better blogger and post regular in the new year, but it's not something I'm going to make myself do.  I have friends who blog too and we have to remind each other now and then we do this for the pleasure...not because we have to.  If it becomes a job or is not fun anymore, then it's time to step away for awhile.  Life happens sometimes :)  I bought a light box from Amazon in July and have just now set it up.  So hopefully I will also bring you better pictures with more accurate colors this year.  I also bought myself a new camera in Sept for my Birthday and getting the hang of it too..so bear with me with me.  I have 3 new collections to review for you soon and will also swatch some of yours and my old favorites.  Maybe a giveaway or 2 :)

Has anyone made it this far reading?  If so, Thank You very much for your support, I couldn't have done it without you.  646 followers since Mother's Day 2011!

Christmas Nail Art - Snowman Tutorial - Tricia's Nail Artistry

Tonight, I am very happy to bring you another blog post by Tricia!  As you know, I am working on my nail art skills and Tricia makes it very easy to understand how to do with her step-by-step tutorials.  You can see more of her nail art and follow her on Face Book at Tricia's Nail Artistry.  Now on to her post!

Hiiii, I love doing Christmas theme nails, so today I did a snow man design, this idea was in my mind when I bought the Super Nail glitter used here. These glitters are large hexagons pieces so I used them to create snowflakes in this design, they can be bought at Sally's Beauty Supply.

1) Paint nail in Blue.

2) Sponge on white at tips.

3) Using dotting tool, create 3 different size circles to form the snowman's body.

4) Using red & black stripers, paint on the face, hat, hands & scarf.

5) Apply one coat of clear polish over the entire nail and while still wet, sprinkle the glitter pieces around the snowman.

 6) When completely dried, tap or lightly brush off excess glitters and finish off with a final top coat to seal in the applied glitter.

This is a pic of the design with Northern lights Holo top coat (1 coat)over the finished nail. It makes the snowman blend in rather than stand out on the nail.

Tips: When applying the glitter pieces, avoid sprinkling on top of the snow man as it will cover it. Northern Lights Hologram top coat can be used over the finished nail since it has the extra fine holo glitters which can be polished over the snowman to blend it into the design.

Blaze Kickin Coral to Crimson Red Sun-Activated Color Change Polish

Recently, I was sent 2 Blaze Solar Active Nail Lacquers to review.  My first is Kickin Coral that changes to Crimson Red in the Sun.  Indoors it is a bright coral color.  Application was very easy, I started with a white base coat to show you the true color of the polish and then layered 2 coats of polish on top.  Since this color of polish has a jelly consistency you could easily use 3 or 4 coats without it being too thick, I did this and used it alone the first time, but the sun decided to hide the rest of the day.

Indoors

This was taken outdoors and with limited sun, the color change is very evident and beautiful.  The color it changes to is called Crimson Red.  The wear on the polish is good, I did take it off after day 2, with very little wear.

I will bring you the 2nd polish that Blaze sent for review later this week, it is such a great color for Christmas or for everyday wear.  You can follow them on Facebook at Blaze Nail Lacquer and check them out on their website at Blaze Nail Polish.  You can see that they are offering a special right now, their polishes retail from $7.95 to $12.95.
Don't miss their Triple Holiday Sale... 10% off ... buy 3 get base/top coat.... free shipping on order $50 and over.

Julep's Maven Program - December It Girl

Tonight, I am bringing you the December It Girl Box from Julep.  This is my 5th monthly Maven box and they keep getting more exciting each month.  I also took advantage of their 3 month subscription that they offered recently at a discounted price.  Julep keeps coming up with bigger and better surprises.  I have had excellent Customer Service from them, they seem to really have it together!  I am now the proud owner of 22 of their colors, top coat, nail treatment, cuticle oil, lip gloss, hand cream, hand scrub, hand brightener, nail file and makeup bag (which has little holders on the side for their polish or lipgloss).  Also, with my credits  from the Julep Maven Referral Program, I have been able to give extras in my Secret Santa packages, swaps and to Family & Friends.  OK, on to the pictures of this months box that I received.

It came packaged in a nice red box for Christmas, everything inside was
wrapped in a nice red and white snowflake bag with a ribbon.

Inside the bag contained a Top Coat, Helena polish, Nail Rivets and glitter.  I will
bring you swatches later this week.  With this many products, I will be able
to do lots of different looks.

Each month they include a nicely printed card with all the products and useful tips on them.

The nail glitter was this months extra surprise.  A printed card with instructions will
be especially helpful for those of us who haven't used glitter.

The Maven program offers a unique way to receive Julep polishes and other products through a monthly subscription.  It is $19.99 and you can receive $15 off your first box by using the Promo Code: December, making your first monthly only $5!  You can try out over $60 worth of their products, you can cancel at anytime, do a shelf pull (change colors for that month), put your subscription on hold for a month or even send it to a friend as a nice Birthday, Holiday or Thanks for Being My Friend present.  You can even send them a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription for a gift.  For every person that you refer to Julep and they use your link, you will receive a $15 gift code for their products.  To join, just click on one of the links in this post or on the Julep Maven picture on the right side of my blog.

Professional quality "3-Free" nail polish formulation.  $1 of every Julep Nail Color sold will be donated to organizations that support women through their Powered by Girlfriends program. You can learn more about that on their webpage at Julep.com.

Dr.'s REMEDY HOLIDAY HUES: JOLLY & JOY

Tonight I am bringing you the new Holiday Collection Jolly & Joy from Dr.'s Remedy.  When I first saw the press releases I knew this would be my favorite collections so far.  There are the traditional Reds & Greens but the actual polishes are anything but traditional.  The Ruby Red Revive is probably in my top 5 polishes for the holidays.  The glitters are amazing.  All polishes were swatched using 2 coats of polish and no topcoat, so the shine you see is that of the polish itself!  I think the formulas on this collection is easily the best too, even the glitters went on very smooth and easy.  My teenage daughter grabbed both glitters after she saw them on me and she really likes them too.

The holiday 2011 JOLLY & JOY collection of Enriched Nail Polish includes:

REVIVE Ruby Red: A shimmer-infused, Wizard of Oz-inspired shade of
crimson.  This is my favorite of the collection.

PASSION Purple: A bombshell-boysenberry with subtle silver meshed
throughout.  I really like this one too.  A favorite purple now.

ESSENTIAL Emerald: A take on the classic tree-and-plant-inspired
gem of a shade, with delicate glimmer and unparalleled amounts of glamour.
A really nice green that can be used throughout the year.

SERENE Silver Glitter: A seasonal sizzler like no other: shine, chic, totally
unique in the metallic scene.  The glitters really surprised me, easy to apply,
opaque in 2 coats and even better, easy to remove!

RESOLUTION Red Glitter: A red-meets-copper spin that's sequin-look-alike
laden with high-shine and sparkle.  I would consider this a pink base with red and
copper glitter, again opaque in 2 coats and easy to apply and remove!

Dr.'s REMEDY is a line of doctor-inspired cosmetics that is dedicated to using clean, hypo-allergenic ingredients. The birth-child of two New York-based podiatrists, Dr. Adam Cirlincione and Dr. William Spielfogel, Dr.'s REMEDY proves quintessentially-perfect for any person looking to better the condition of her skin and nails; their Enriched Nail Polish is the first-ever nail polish on the market approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr.'s REMEDY is sold online at www.remedynails.com or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL, it retails for $17 each.   You can also follow Dr.'s Remedy on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Remedynails and on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/remedynails.

What do you think about this collection?  It's one of my favorites for the season and several keepers for all year round.

Julep Dendrie - A Gorgeous Gray Cream

Tonight, I am bringing you another favorite polish of mine, Julep Dendrie.  It is a medium gray cream and it went on very smooth and easy.  This is 2 coats and it was opaque, but next time I will use 3 coats, I like the thicker feel on my nails.  Sorry for the messed up ring finger, that is actually base coat and not my cuticle.  I am having a blast with all of Julep's polishes and products.  Their Maven Program is great, I have received some really nice boxes each month and extra products from the Julep Referral Program.  You can check it out with the link on my sidebar or below.  I just received my December Julep Box and can't wait to share that with you!

The Maven program offers a unique way to receive Julep polishes and other products through a monthly subscription.  It is $19.99 and you can receive $10 off your first box by using the Promo Code: Welcome,  you can try out over $60 worth of their products, you can cancel at anytime, do a shelf pull (change colors for that month), put your subscription on hold for a month or even send it to a friend as a nice Birthday, Holiday or Thanks for Being My Friend present.  You can even send them a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription for a gift.  For every person that you refer to Julep and they use your link, you will receive a $15 gift code for their products.  To join, just click on one of the links in this post or on the Julep Maven picture on the right side of my blog.

Dr.'s Remedy Fall Fever 2011 Reviews

I'm a little late with this but wanted to make sure I showed you the reviews of these beautiful new colors.  I love how they look and this is with 2 coats and no top coat.  They were all opaque with 2 coats but you can see some thin spots with the lighting, this was not noticeable in normal light.  Below is part of Dr.'s Remedy's Press Release and descriptions of the polishes.  I couldn't have described them better myself.

Fall 2011 will be fierce: leaves will change, for sure, and temps will follow suit. But the real news relates to the hues of this season. Indeed, we're revolutionarily-ready to welcome a crisper, cleaner, clearer collection of colors, kudos to Dr.'s REMEDY insight and excitement over autumn. These hues celebrate the season that screams renewal: a rich bordeaux; a modern burgundy; a navy-meets-royal blue. We welcome you to invite your nails to dance in Dr.'s REMEDY FALL FEVER 2011.

The vibrant shade collection of Enriched Nail Polish includes:

DEFENSE Deep Red: A rich bordeaux with a mystifying matte finish

NOBEL Navy: A sea-at-dusk shade that reflects light and brings
dimension to tips and toes alike

BALANCE Brick: A modern maroon with body and balance
